Maybe Communism Isn't So Bad

If anyone ever doubted The New York Times leans left, even after reading all those Paul Krugman columns, here comes a whopper from Thomas Friedman.

He says things like:

  • We have a one-party democracy. Really? I can't three, at least: Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians.

  • Although admitting one-party autocracies have their drawbacks, he calls the Chinese "enlightened" and suggest they are doing it pretty well.

  • It's an advantage to have a one-party autocracy so it can push through legislation without interference.

  • Obama is a centrist.

  • He quotes Joe Romm at climateprogress.org, who says the Chinese are going to beat us at "green energy" because of their managed economy. Let's totally forget that communism has failed everywhere it has been tried -- including in America.

  • We need to make "progress" on climate change, health care and immigration to help American business.

He seems to think we have a one-party democracy because the Democrats are the only ones working towards what he wants. This is the classic definition of "bipartisan": do what I want or I will call you names.
