Obama's 'Green Jobs' Czar

Obama has gone hog wild, hiring 'czars' to govern and make policies without any accountability to the public. I think the public deserves to know more about these people that Obama trusts so well.

Take Van Jones, Obama's pick as "green jobs" czar. He is a self-avowed Communist, admitting he was radicalized in April 1992 and was a Communist by August 2009: "I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the [Rodney King] verdicts came down on April 29th," he said. "By August, I was a communist. I met all these young radical people of color – I mean really radical: communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of.' I spent the next 10 years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary," he said.

Jones was the leader and founder of the radical group, the communist revolutionary organization Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM). The group's manifesto can be found here. Be warned, however, that you might not be able to get to it. I was given an "out of bandwidth" message when I tried to access it.

The manual boasted, "...the 9/11 vigil was held to express solidarity with Arab and Muslim Americans and to mourn the civilians killed in the terrorist attacks 'as well as the victims of U.S. imperialism around the world.'"

Jones worked with other radicals in STORM, like Elizabeth Martinez, a longtime Maoist who went on to join the Communist Party USA breakaway organization Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, or CCDS, in the early 1990s.

He founded the Ella Baker Center for Justice, where he focused on the environment and bragged that his environmental activism was a means to fight for racial and class justice.
