Democrats Preparing Nuclear Option on Health Care

Never mind the left hand, watch the other hand that's coming around to stab you in the back.

Obama is turning emotional and pleading with religious leaders about health care reform, saying health care reform is a "core ethical and moral obligation." He is peppering his speech with phrases like "bearing false witness" and "speak the truth."

But while that is happening, Democratic leaders in the Senate are preparing a nuclear option known as "reconciliation." It allows them to push through a bill without the 60-vote majority normally needed. Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said, "...we are determined to get something done this year by any legislative means necessary."
