In a follow-up to my article this morning about Obama denying charging people for not having health insurance amounts to taxing them, I wish to point out an article from Politico.
They point out that on page 29 of the health care bill it says specifically "excise tax". (Note, if you use the page function in the reader, use page 32, not 29).
And not only is it called a tax, it will be collected through the tax system: "The excise tax would be assessed through the tax code and applied as an additional amount of Federal tax owed." Now, isn't that convenient. I don't have to write two checks!
