Howard Kurtz at The Washington Post writes about several stories, the first of which is the low rankings of trust the American people have for the media. Only 29% of Americans believe the media gets their facts straight, only 26% believe the media try to keep the stories unbiased and 70% believe the media try to cover up their mistakes.
He looks at it through political ideology as well. Seventy-three percent of Republicans say the media are fair to the Obama administration. Just 25% said that about the Bush administration's coverage four years ago. Fifty-four percent of Democrats say the press is fair to Obama. Sixty-eight percent approved of the Bush coverage in 2005.
